Something new to look at. PicLens can create an "immersive slideshow" from your web images. The interface that PicLens uses is very Mac OSX like and certainly high on the eye candy. It allows you to view your images as a wall of pictures and navigate through them easily using the mouse. Actually i think it probably is a good way to browse a large number of images without the distraction of window furniture.
Installing it for Firefox is very easy, though installing the creation tool is a bit more problematical as it needs .NET. I think i'll hold off for now as i don't want to risk my computer being destroyed. It already works for Flickr though so you can browse the university's Flickr account as God... or PicLens anyway intended.
Its hard to really explain what this thing does, its much easier to see for yourself! James and I have both been impressed with the speed and smoothness of the interface (though we do have a fast connection here). Something to keep our eyes on. I don't think there is much need to develop in it yet as we don't exactly have a huge array of images on our website.... yet.
