What is killing Twitter?

I like Twitter, though i'm still not sure what it's for. It does seem to be a good way of sharing links though like this one i received earlier today on, erm, "What's killing Twitter". The service does seem to be down a fair bit but i'm not sure we should be writing obituaries yet.
